Joint Admission test for Masters (JAM) has been established as a benchmark for the
undergraduate level science education in the country since 2004 - 05. The objective of JAM is to
provide admissions to Post-Bachelor’s Degree Programmes and to consolidate Science as a career
option for bright students across the country. These programmes offer high-quality education in their
respective disciplines, comparable to the best in the world. The curricula for these programmes are
designed to provide the students with opportunities to develop academic talent leading to challenging
and rewarding professional life. The curricula are regularly updated at the IISc and IITs.
The interdisciplinary content of the curricula equips the students with the ability to utilize scientific
knowledge for practical applications. These programmes are open to all eligible students irrespective
of their nationality. The medium of instruction is English for all the above mentioned programmes.

Application Fee Payment Procedure
The application fee as shown in Table 1 is to be paid online only. Candidates will be able to make
the payment using net-banking, debit or credit card or UPI until October 11, 2022. Before proceeding
for making any payment, applicants should view their application by clicking the "Save and View"
button. They should carefully check the application and ensure that there are no errors in the
application form. They should also ensure that all the relevant and valid documents are uploaded.
If there is any mistake, they can edit the relevant fields before proceeding for the payment. After this
they should click on "Proceed for Payment" button. Once a candidate clicks “Proceed for Payment”
button, NO FURTHER CHANGES in the application form can be made and the candidate will be
directed to the payment portal. On the fee payment portal, the fee amount and bank charges will be
shown and the candidate has to confirm that the payment is for JAM 2023.
Once confirmed and
payment is successful, the candidate will be redirected back to the JOAPS Website, where it shows
confirmation of the fee payment. If the candidate had selected only ONE Test Paper, there will be an
option to choose a second Test Paper. If candidates desire to do so, they can proceed by paying the
additional amount for second Test Paper.
If candidates have difficulty in making the fee payment (due to internet connection or power
failure, for example) or are not sure whether payment has been processed or not, then they should
login to JOAPS after about an hour and check the status of the payment. A new online payment
should be initiated if the payment of fee is not reflected in the JOAPS portal. If it is not done, the
application will be rejected due to non-payment of the application fee in time. In case, the fee amount
has been debited from the account of candidate, but JOAPS does not acknowledge any fee payment,
then the money will be credited back to the account within ten working days.
In exceptional circumstances, a change of examination city may be permitted. The request for
city change should be made after an online payment of ₹ 300 through JOAPS on or before November
12, 2022. Please note that payment of ₹ 300 does not necessarily guarantee the change of the city.
